Well, I think that you have to intern first, maybe sent in your resume?? I am sorry that I do not know how, but maybe watch some of The Hills?? Because Lauren interns at Teen Vogue, and Whitney might have gotten a promotion. [This isn't an amazing answer, but I just wanted to tell you that.]

Start with an internship but it's still pretty competitive. It would help also if you were enrolled in a program specializing in fashion.

I took some courses at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and there were tons of recruiters coming from the big companies.

Also I would be aggressive and find out who you could send your resume to for an internship. Go to their offices and become friends with the receptionist.
