The name is an abbreviation of Cansei de ser Sexy (Tired of being sexy).

More about them:

Brazilian techno-pop misfits CSS – whose kaleidoscopic electro-rock has slain music lovers from Rutherglen to Rio – are a haphazard, synth-jabbing, arch-hip six-piece who’re set to ensnare 2007 as their own.

Fronted by a saucy-monikered rude chanteuse known only as Lovefoxxx, CSS unleashed their incandescent, eponymous Sub Pop debut last year to feverish acclaim: parties and dance-floors across the land were galvanised by the new-wave, inner-city, disco strains of ‘Let’s Make Love And Listen To Death From Above’ and ‘Alala’.

Unlikely erstwhile label-mates to Wolf Eyes, Mudhoney, and Nirvana they may be, but CSS’ cracked-English cantatas of Beyonce and booze and Paris Hilton are nonetheless ingenious, rapturous – and peerless.

Their truly ebullient live extravaganzas, meanwhile, have seen them branded an unparagoned global force. Little wonder: CSS’ exhilarating fusion of brassy art-pop and lascivious electro has affirmed them as twenty-first century stars.
