Do I have to memorize all 17 strings on the đàn tranh, Viet zither, then play it by just looking at music note
Question: I have a 17-stringed zither, dan tranh, and I have to keep looking at the music notes, then back at the string which throws me off rhythm. Should I memorize the placement of all 17 strings? Or should I just memorize the piece of music then recite it on the dan tranh? Thanks! If you play an instrument with many strings, please answer! Thanks again!
Answers: I try to play the dan bau - one string. I have to memorize the songs - I can not switch back and forth between the sheet music and the string - I get lost.
